What roles have you had in your time at Mole Valley farmers?

I started at Farmway back in 2012 as a Warehouse worker and got promoted to Warehouse Team Leader. When Mole acquired us in 2013 I became Manager at Leyburn and since then I‘ve had the opportunity to move stores and work with different teams, including managing Stokesley and Piercebridge. During my time I have also supported various stores including some dual site management. I left just before COVID for about 9 months but was soon back in 2020. I rejoined as a trainer and superuser on the AX project which is the system for all back of house processes in stores. I helped roll out the whole programme, which gave me the opportunity to travel from Alnwick to Penzance and everywhere in between. I’m now Store Manager Designate for Region 5.

What opportunities have you had since working here?

I’ve gained many qualifications such as Diploma in Retail Management, IOSH, first aid, forklift, BASIS & AMTRA, plus I was lucky enough to complete the foundation course at Oxford Summer School. I’ve loved being involved in so many projects; colleagues still call me now for guidance, even if the projects were years ago.

What have you enjoyed in your time at Mole Valley Farmers?

The most enjoyable part for me is meeting new people across the whole business. In all honesty my sole reason for being here is the people, that’s what it’s all about.

What inspires you to come to work every day?

Being part of a big family at Mole Valley Farmers. I want the business to succeed. The business has provided me and so many of my colleagues with opportunities to develop and in turn since becoming a Manager I’ve helped people progress with their careers. Someone gave me a break years ago and I want to continue doing that for others.

What does a typical day in the life of your role look like?

Every day is different. One day I can be running a store, the next I can be supporting the region, I can be focusing on project work, in a store supporting the team, helping customers, or at agricultural shows.

What do you do outside of work?

I love to spend as much time as possible with my family, my two nephews especially, and my sister and mum. I enjoy travelling and I am a big car fan so often at shows and not forgetting football, I am a big Liverpool fan for my sins!
