We understand you may have concerns regarding your data. It remains the case that we have no evidence that any personal and/or financial data we hold in our systems has been compromised. However, as we continue to investigate this incident our working assumption is that personal data may have been compromised. We have reported this incident and are working closely with the relevant external agencies. We advise you to take sensible and precautionary measures to reduce the risks that could arise if your data has been compromised.

The guidance below is prepared to help you take appropriate measures to allay concerns.

If you are concerned regarding your financial details, please contact your bank to ensure you have appropriate levels of security in place. We do advise you follow standard good practice by ensuring you have the appropriate passwords and authentications in place with your bank, especially where you use online banking.

Data could be used for identity theft. As a result of this:

• Be vigilant – we all receive phishing emails as a result of email addresses falling into the hands of scammers. If you have any doubts about the authenticity of an email, the best advice we can give is to delete it.
• Please also be aware of phone scams and never disclose PIN codes, passwords or personal details unless you are sure of who you are talking to. Please see helpful information from the consumer group Which?
• You should never click on a link or attachment and input bank details or financial information. Your bank, utility companies and other legitimate organisations like Mole Valley Farmers will never ask you to input personal financial information into an email.

• It is always good practice to keep a close eye on your bank accounts - inform your bank, building society and credit card company of any unusual transactions on your statement.
• You can also request a copy of your credit file to check for any suspicious credit applications. Please visit the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for further information at ico.org.uk
• Consider changing your passwords ensuring they are strong and unique with at least 14 characters in upper and lower case.
• You can also Credit Lock your details with organisations like Experian, blocking access to your credit report. This prevents anyone from opening a new account in your name, such as a credit card or loan.
