The Engineering Division is located at Witheridge, equidistant between South Molton and Tiverton. The premises is a modern manufacturing and distribution facility, which is based on the site of the former village forge, listed parts of which can still be seen.
Whilst most customers will be familiar with the range of tubular equipment and treated timber displayed at branches, this represents only a limited view of the products and services on offer.
The items listed below are available from our Engineering Division at Witheridge and from our retail outlets.
This popular superior quality heavy duty 5 bar stock gate for cattle yards and cow penning, comes complete with two adjustable eyes and sliding bolt with pendulum lock. All gates are 45” (1.143m) high and come in a range of sizes. 7ft(2.13m), 8ft(2.44m) , 9ft(2.74m), 10ft(3.05m), 11ft(3.35m), 12ft(3.66m), 13ft(3.96m), 14ft(4.27m), 15ft(4.57m), 16ft(4.88m), 17ft(5.18m), 18ft(5.49m), 20ft(6.1m). Intermediate sizes are manufactured to special order.

To complement our range of gates, we offer a comprehensive range of suitable posts. There are three sizes available, 6ft (1.828m) long supplied complete with a plastic end cap.

Diagonal barriers are of heavy duty construction and are available in two types. The 15ft (4.572m) long x 4ft 6in (1.846m) high with 18” (0.460m) timber base, is a floor standing unit. The other is 15ft long by 3ft (0.915m) high which is designed to sit on top of an 18” block wall. They both have 11 feed spaces and diagonal bars which help to reduce feed wastage.
Other lengths are available to special order, including gate variants, which have 2” (50mm) square heavy duty hanging stiles and two slide bolts with pendulum locks.

Cattle grids are manufactured in three weight carrying capacities - 10 tonnes, 20 tonnes and 40 tonnes. The choice of capacity will depend totally on the erection of suitable support walls in the recommended positions. To ensure correct pit construction, recommended pit specifications are supplied with each cattle grid ordered.

Witheridge Specials Department is able to meet your need for any specialised steel fabrications that you may require from slight variations of standard products to complete “one-offs”.

The Engineering Division also offers steel stockholders of mild steel in all the major sections, mild steel plates galvanised and wire mesh sheets and is fully equipped to provide an extensive cutting and bending service.

Sliding Door Gear
An extensive range of door gear for both metal and wooden doors is stocked on site. Track sections are rolled from high grade galvanised strip for straight sliding doors, any number of which may be hung on length of track providing that each door does not exceed a given weight.

Fibre Cement Roofing
Stockholders of the market leading British made Eternit fibre cement products. These resilient products are suitable for most agricultural applications. It is particularly suitable where livestock are housed as it will reduce the amount of condensation.
Available only from our Engineering Division at Witheridge in stock sizes 5ft, 6ft, 7ft, 8ft, 9ft 6", & 10ft. A full range of fixtures and fittings including heavy duty roof lights in 5ft & 10ft are also available.
Roofing Sheets
Stocking a wide range of roofing sheet lengths in 8ft, 10ft, 12ft, 15ft, 16, & 20ft (6.096m), these hard wearing sheets are available in painted Slate Blue and Juniper Green in the standard 900/26 profile. Rooflights in 6ft & 8ft to match.
Also available are painted & plastic coated ridge, barge boards and all fixtures and fittings. Plastic coated roofsheets in other colours, lengths and profiles can be obtained by special order.

Parlour Boards
This is a polypropylene 8ft x 4ft x 1/8" (2.438mm x 1.219m x 3mm) board in either blue or white. Ideal for dairy and parlour wall lining, and it conforms to food hygiene regulations, providing an easy clean surface. We also stock a wide range of fixtures and fittings to make this an easy self assembly product.

Cement Roofing
This is a complementary product to parlour board. This is a pvc plank, 16ft longx11 3/4" wide (5m x 300mm). The specially designed jointing system ensures the best possible seal between each plank and is suitable for regular cleaning.
The twin wall construction prevents condensation and provides good insulation properties.

A comprehensive range of guttering and drainage products, in all of the popular sizes, is held in stock. The systems are manufactured and tested to the requirements of the latest British Standards. Technical advice is available for product selection and its application.
