The MSA 80 battery-powered chainsaw is a powerful new addition to the AK System range of chainsaws. The first AK System chainsaw with a 14” guide bar, it has the best power-to-weight ratio in the range. Designed for private use at home, such as cutting firewood, pruning branches, wood working and felling small trees of up to 25 cm in diameter.

Fitted with a powerful brushless motor, the power output of is comparable to the MSA 160 battery-powered chainsaw in the AP System range and the MS 162 petrol powered chainsaw. It has 30% more power compared to the MSA 70 chainsaw whilst only being 200 g heavier. Improved Ergo lever on the back handle for greater comfort during use and across different cutting angles. Trigger system allows for maximum control over the chain speed, for working across different materials, around shrubs or on wood working projects. Transparent chain oil tank for better visibility. Quick chain tensioner allows the sprocket cover to be removed and the chain tensioned without the need for additional tools.

• Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.
• With other brands of battery tools, the performance usually decreases during work as the battery discharges. This is not the case with STIHL cordless power tools with CONSTANT POWER. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your STIHL power tool works with consistently high power.
• Thanks to STIHL Quick Chain Tensioning, you can tension your saw chain quickly and without tools, thanks to the adjusting wheel. Turning the adjusting wheel to the left releases tension on the saw chain, and turning the adjustment wheel to the right tensions the saw chain. The guide bar will be automatically secured when you tighten the sprocket cover.
• Thanks to the bayonet closure, you can open and close the tool-free fuel cap in just a few simple steps.
• With the transparent oil tank, you can easily and quickly check the fill level of the chain oil. This means that you always know when you need to add chain oil for efficient work over long periods.
• The control lever with potentiometer function allows you to control the speed of your battery-powered chainsaw on an infinitely variable basis, and in this way easily control and adjust its performance as needed. On consumer chainsaws, the potentiometer function is integrated into the throttle lever.
• Thanks to modern techniques, the use of lightweight materials and compact design, this power tool has a very good power-to-weight ratio. This means that you can work particularly effortlessly, without having to forgo high performance.
• The derating function offers you two advantages in your work: first, this function protects your chainsaw against possible overheating by reducing the current. Additionally, it notifies you by means of a reduction in power if you only have very little battery power remaining. In both cases, the function allows you to finish cuts that have already started without the engine switching off.
• Your STIHL chainsaw has an ergonomically shaped handle and a comfortable rear control handle with soft components. Thanks to this two-handed operation, you can work comfortably, effortlessly and safely in all positions.
• Thanks to its compact design, low weight and high efficiency, the EC engine enables you to work in an energy efficient manner. This engine also has a long service life.
• Thanks to the soft components on the control handle, your work tool sits comfortably in the hand and can be guided safely. The softgrip handle also improves your grip, especially when wet. The ergonomic lever also makes work easier, as there is no need to unlock the machine again while working, as long as one hand continuously remains on the rear handle.
• The power tool is compatible with the Smart Connector, meaning it can be integrated into the STIHL connected system. Once you have attached a Smart Connector to the power tool, after one-time commissioning it will record the power tool’s operating hours and transmit them to the STIHL connected App via Bluetooth. In addition to displaying the operational time, the app also provides an overview of all necessary maintenance, ensuring that you do not overlook important upkeep and that your power tool is always in a ready-to-use condition.
