Head of Grassland and Forage Agronomy appointed at Mole Valley Farmers

Mole Valley Farmers is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Hambly as Head of Grassland and Forage Agronomy.

Lisa brings significant experience and expertise in the field of grassland management with a particular interest and passion for soil health and crop nutrition. Lisa will lead the developing agronomy service from Mole Valley Farmers and focus on helping farmers improve their management of grassland, forage and soils, with the aim to improve productivity, profitability and sustainability.

Lisa’s appointment also coincides with the roll out of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) which is the first of the government’s new environmental land management schemes, with a key objective of SFI to improve soil health and grassland management.

Lisa Hambly, Head of Grassland and Agronomy says: “I am so fortunate to be joining Mole Valley Farmers and a business which is committed to UK agriculture. We are here to help farmers respond to the changing agricultural landscape and be successful for the future. With new government policy and farmers being rewarded for improving their land management there is a huge opportunity to positively address the environmental issues and to increase livestock productivity using more quality homegrown forage. This can only be done by addressing soil health and managing the entire process from the soil to the silage clamp. This has a direct impact on performance and productivity of livestock and ultimately, the bottom line for farmers.”

Jack Cordery, CEO of Mole Valley Farmers says: We’re delighted to welcome Lisa to Mole Valley Farmers. Her vast experience will bring significant value to our Farmer Shareholders and farming customers. Lisa will lead and develop our agronomy team as the importance of forage production for dairy farmers assumes ever greater significance, especially against a backdrop of rising input costs and the need to reduce the carbon footprint associated with dairy and livestock production.

“We are building and delivering an integrated approach to forage and nutrition which is supported by our large animal vet team. This means we can take a holistic view and help our farmers meet productivity goals, implement measures to reduce carbon footprints and support in the overall health and performance of livestock.”

Prior to joining Mole Valley Farmers, Lisa was an agronomist with Agrovista UK. She is BASIS and FACTS qualified with wide experience in cropping and all aspects of grassland management.
