In this edition we’re focusing on one of Virus Shields’ many udder hygiene benefits - its remarkable ease of use.

What is it?

Virus Shield is a pure chlorine dioxide-based disinfectant using new and unique microreactor technology, which comes in a ‘tea bag’ sealed within a pouch.

All our Farmer Shareholders and Members have to do is add the perforated bag to water to infuse, creating a highly effective and concentrated product in two hours.

The concentrated disinfectant significantly reduces bacterial contamination of the udder and can then be used as a pre or post teat dip, spray or foam to thoroughly disinfect the teats. Use Virus Shield as part of your udder hygiene routine to reduce new cases of Mastitis within the herd.

Due to its purity and added moisturisers it will also help maintain and improve teat condition. It comes in a small, uniquely designed and patented bag containing chemicals that form chloride dioxide on contact with water.

There’s no need to transport and deliver in water, saving the need for plastic barrels and it also reduces the number of hot washes needed, saving energy and lowering bills.

How long does it take to work?

As a pre dip, the Virus Shield chlorine dioxide disinfectant kills 99.9999% of bacteria before wiping. Post dip should be applied as normal.

Described as a ‘tea bag,’ the antimicrobial micro bioreactor can simply be added to clean, fresh water to make a unique, pure chlorine dioxide disinfectant.

The bioreactor, with its scientifically designed and patented membranes, prevents the production of chlorates and chlorites, leaving a pure chlorine dioxide with no residue making it suitable for all dairy farms.
