A field survey was conducted in several EU countries. When the farms switched to a feeding programme including OmniGen AF® a decrease in mastitis, SCC, retained placenta and metritis was recorded. There was also an increase in milk yield.

ANTIBIOTIC REDUCTION
Comparison of 29 farms (5555 cows) in the Netherlands feeding OmniGen AF® showed a 34% reduction of antibiotic use compared to the previous 180 days prior to introduction of OmniGen AF® (antibiotics used for drying off and youngstock are not included in this figure).
The European Commission is developing an action plan to address the increase in antimicrobial resistance. As part of this plan, options to reduce the need for antibiotics in farm animals are being examined (EMA and EFSA, 2017). A future with reduced access to antibiotics is fast approaching on a global basis.
