Product Description
Rumenil 34 mg/ml Oral Suspension For Cattle - 5L.

Rumenil is an oral flukicide for cattle containing oxyclozanide 34 mg/ml. It is indicated for the treatment of chronic fascioliasis (liver fluke) caused by adult Fasciola hepatica that are sensitive to oxyclozanide. Rumenil is also indicated for the elimination of gravid tapeworm segments (Moniezia species).

When to use Rumenil:

Rumenil is suitable for use in cattle where adult liver fluke are present, particularly in chronic infections. It should be used as part of a planned parasite control programme based on veterinary advice and local fluke risk.

Important treatment limitation:

At the recommended dose, oxyclozanide is not effective against immature liver fluke stages migrating through liver tissue. If immature fluke are the primary concern, alternative treatment options and appropriate treatment timing should be discussed with your prescriber.

Dosage and administration:

Route: Oral use

Instructions: Shake well before use. Accurately determine bodyweight and ensure dosing equipment is correctly calibrated to avoid underdosing.

Dose rate:

10 mg oxyclozanide per kg bodyweight, equivalent to 3 ml per 10 kg bodyweight

Example guide doses:

50 kg – 15 ml
100 kg – 30 ml
150 kg – 45 ml
200 kg – 60 ml
250 kg – 75 ml
300 kg – 90 ml
350 kg and over – 105 ml

Withdrawal periods:

Meat and offal: 13 days
Milk: 108 hours (4.5 days)

Precautions for use:

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to oxyclozanide or any excipients.

Take care when administering orally to avoid injury to the pharyngeal region.

Avoid underdosing, which may increase the risk of reduced efficacy and parasite resistance.

Suspected resistance should be investigated and alternative anthelmintic classes considered where appropriate.

Environmental considerations:

Oxyclozanide is toxic to dung fauna and aquatic organisms. To reduce environmental risk, avoid frequent or repeated use and keep treated cattle away from watercourses for 5 days after dosing.

Pack size and storage:

Rumenil is supplied in a 5 litre pack size only.
