Suttons Cosmos Seeds - Rubies in Sunshine
After the popularity of the first true yellow cosmos, we have found you an unusual yet striking combination of the delicate yellow cosmos Xanthos with a contrasting almost red/pink cosmos called 'Rubinato'. We love how the two varieties look so outstanding together, just like rubies glistening in the bright sunshine. Flowers July-mid October. Height 50-60cm (20-24"). HHA - Half hardy annual. The mix contains approximately 50% of each variety.
An economical choice to fill large borders. Big flowers are borne above pretty fern-like foliage.
Sow April-May 6mm (¼") deep direct into finely raked, moist, warm soil where the plants are to flower and rake the seed in gently. Germination usually 7-14 days. For earlier flowering, sow February/March 3mm (1⁄8") deep into good quality compost and place on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approximately 18-21°C (65-70°F) to germinate. Space seedlings to 5cm (2") apart and grow on. Plant out 8-12cm (20-30") apart in a sunny position end of May. May also be sown in early autumn for early flowering next summer.
Average packet contents: 25 seeds.
