Virus Shield
We are proud to be launching Virus Shield - a unique, cutting-edge technology developed by scientists in the USA and UK.
Exclusive to Mole Valley Farmers, Virus Shield has been trialled on dairy farms across both countries and can significantly lower new cases of mastitis as well as effectively reduce somatic cell counts within the herd when used as part of a mastitis control plan.
What is it?
Virus Shield is a pure chlorine dioxide-based disinfectant using new and unique microreactor technology, which is supplied in the form of a 'tea bag' sealed in a pouch.
Simply add the 'tea bag' to water to infuse, creating a highly effective chlorine dioxide disinfectant within 2 hours.
The micro bioreactor, with its scientifically designed and patented membranes, prevents the production of chlorates and chlorites, leaving pure chlorine dioxide with no residue, making it suitable for all dairy farms.
How does it work?
Microbes which cause infection are called pathogens (bacteria, viruses, and fungi). All microbes live in a 'slime layer' called the biofilm.
Application of Virus Shield makes surfaces inhospitable for microbes and prevents the formation of the biofilm by forming a crystalline microscopic 'bed of needles'.
As microbes land they are instantly killed and therefore cannot form a biofilm.
Key benefits
The disinfectant kills 99.99% of mastitis causing bacteria in 30 seconds.
As Virus Shield comes in a small, bioreactor bag, it reduces the need for plastic barrels and IBC's which will significantly reduce and decrease the need to recycle plastic.
Due to the chlorine dioxide's purity and added emollients, teat condition will be maintained and improved.
Virus Shield can be sprayed, dipped or foamed as part of your udder hygiene routine.
Best practice
• Use a clean or new drum
• Mix in cold water
• Infuse for 2 hours
• Use the provided test strips to ensure the concentration is at 100ppm
• Keep away from direct sunlight and do not agitate
Once hydrated it can be used for 30 days. If best practice is followed it can last up to 90 days.
After 30 days, ensure that test strips are used regularly to check concentration.
Free test kits are supplied with every order to monitor the stability of the product giving you peace of mind from start to finish.
