Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (WEEE)
If you’re buying electrical or electronic equipment from us, you can now recycle your old appliance for free in any of our stores.
As a business committed to finding new ways to develop our sustainability, we are proud to outline the following commitment to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (WEEE).
What does WEEE mean?
The WEEE Regulations are designed to reduce the amount of waste electrical equipment that is incinerated or sent to landfill sites. We are committed to recycling any electrical equipment and sourcing an environmentally friendly way to recycle these items. We achieve a reduction in waste through various measures which encourage the recovery, reuse and recycling of products and components.
Why do we need to recycle?
Unwanted electrical equipment is one of the UK’s fastest growing type of waste. Mole Valley Farmers want to ensure we are doing everything we can to support environmental sustainability, something that is fundamental to our core values. As an industry leading business, we want to ensure we drive change in other businesses, as well as offering our customers realistic solutions for recycling any unwanted electrical goods.
Electrical products that are not recycled are often sent to landfill sites where dangerous substances can and will leak, causing soil and water pollution which will ultimately harm wildlife in the long-term.
How are we helping?
As a responsible retailer we must now provide a way for customers to dispose of their old household electrical and electronic equipment when we sell them a new version of the same item. The business has set up a DCF Designated Collection Facility.
The Regulations apply regardless of how we sell the product, whether direct or by online, mail order or telephone. Customers have 28 days to bring back their item to be disposed of. If you are purchasing a new electrical item from us, we are pleased to offer you a Free of Charge recycling facility.
Look out for the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.
How do I recycle my electrical equipment?
All you need to do is take you old appliance along to your local Mole Valley Farmers, Mole Country Stores or Bridgman Farm Direct and we will ensure that it is placed in our designated collection point for recycling.
