Arden Grange: A guide to happy puppy tummies
From the right diet to best mealtime practices, there are several tips to ensure your puppy's tummy is happy and healthy.
Knowing the lingo
When you become a new puppy parent your pup’s health and happiness are your top priority, and at Arden Grange, we understand how crucial the right diet is for them. It's important to know your pet food terminology.
A ‘complete’ diet ensures your puppy is fuelled with the right balance of protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. This combination of nutrients is key for their health and steady growth.
Feeding a super-premium quality complete food such as Arden Grange Puppy Junior reduces the risk of over or under-nutrition. It's tail-waggingly good and perfect for fuelling walks and endless playtimes with their favourite toys.
What your pup can expect in every bowl
All Arden Grange diets are based on no-nonsense, naturally hypoallergenic formulations meaning that we don’t include the most common dietary allergens including wheat gluten, dairy products, beef or soya.
Our foods are gently digested and highly palatable with no added artificial flavours or sugar. Our recipes contain exceptional ingredients, carefully sourced and included for their nutritional value.
We combine these with powerful natural supplements to promote optimum health and wellbeing.
Deliciousness from the start
Arden Grange Puppy Junior is packed with the goodness of fresh chicken, chicken meat meal, rice and maize – it’s a party for your pup’s taste buds. Each pack includes krill and whole linseed which provide omega fatty acids 3 and 6 that promote healthy skin and coat condition.
You’ll also find prebiotics in each recipe to help support your puppy’s microbiome and benefit their immune system. We didn't forget about those growing bones and joints - glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM are in the mix to ensure your pup springs into action with ease.
Settling in at home
Bringing a new pup home is a thrilling adventure - a flurry of wagging tails, new smells, different noises and a whole lot of love, but it's a huge change for your puppy.
We know transitioning to a new diet during this sensitive period can be a bit tricky, so to make things smoother, continue with their current diet until your dog is settled.
Once your pup is ready and comfortable, introduce the Arden Grange diet patiently over a period of a few days. This process is not just about feeding– it's about growing a healthy and happy relationship with your new four-legged companion.
Mealtimes
Puppies grow and mature at their own pace. Up to twelve weeks they are typically bouncing balls of energy and require four meals per day to keep those tails wagging.
Once your pup finds its stride between twelve weeks and six months, three meals a day should suffice. Moving onto adulthood, two meals per day keep our four-legged companions content – but for those with digestive issues, more frequent, smaller meals may be beneficial.
As well as providing tasty meals, ensure that you keep your dog’s water bowl brimming with fresh, clean water to keep your puppy hydrated.
Healthy, steady growth
Growth spurts are expected within your pup's first year, so regular weigh-ins and following your dog food's feeding guide will ensure puppy is on the right track.
As much as we love to see those eager eyes and wagging tails at mealtime, avoid overfeeding and ensure your pooch is getting the right nutritional balance to grow into a strong, fit adult. Happy pup, happy life!
