Our new dedicated Red Meat Team

Welcome to our new and highly specialised Red Meat Team, hand-picked to help our beef and sheep farmers thrive in today’s challenging market.

Three regional specialists will work with Farmer Shareholders, members and customers to provide tailored advice to help enhance efficiencies on farm, embrace innovation, improve productivity and boost profits.

The new team will support our agronomists, feed specialists and nutritionists, as well as advising farmers on topics like the Sustainable Farming Incentive, livestock farm funding and forage and grass sampling.

The team includes:

  • Chris Lavis – South West
  • Rebecca Moore – South, South East and Midlands
  • Andrew Dobinson – North and Scotland

They are headed up by our Technical and Sustainability Manager Dr Matt Witt, with support from the grassland, agronomy, mineral, animal health and handling teams.

The formation of our dedicated Red Meat Team demonstrates our commitment to improving the sustainability of livestock farms, ensuring they thrive now and well into the future.

Sam Holdstock, Head of Sales, said: "As a farmer-owned business, we not only provide competitively priced, quality inputs, but we believe in supporting livestock farmers by providing up to date information, product knowledge, best practice examples from across the sector, understanding the cost of production and supply chain opportunities.

“We have developed many tools and services that can help our livestock farmers, like our dedicated rationing programme and nutrient management planning service, through to our knowledge of the latest grants available.

“Bringing all of this together via our Red Meat Team will make it easier for our customers to access and allow us to tailor advice to individual teams."

Chris Lavis has been involved in agriculture his entire working life. He graduated from Bicton College in 1991 with a National Diploma in Agriculture before starting work on a large beef and sheep farm in the Okehampton area.

He joined us as a Business Development Manager in 2001, working out of the Holsworthy store. In 2011, he completed his diploma in Ruminant Nutrition. As well as working with his own customers, he supports colleagues across Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset with their beef and sheep customers.

Rebecca Moore
T: 07917 097751
E: [email protected]

Rebecca is a nutritionist and has worked with us for over 10 years in the South and South East. She comes from a farming family near Salisbury who were among the first to import Texel sheep from Holland. Her family still has a pedigree flock today.

After leaving agricultural college, Rebecca worked in the meat industry, establishing and managing beef and sheep producer groups for a major retailer.

Her job allowed her to travel worldwide, looking at other countries’ farming systems and supply chains. She has also completed a Nuffield Scholarship looking at beef and lamb production and marketing in New Zealand and the USA. She is also passionate about animal nutrition.

Andrew Dobinson
T: 07957 819384
E: [email protected]

Andrew has always had a passion for livestock, having grown up in a farming family in County Durham. In 2008, he joined us at our Piercebridge store, supplying
customers with key agricultural inputs.

For the last nine years, he has worked as a Business Development Manager. He also runs a flock of commercial ewes, motivating him to drive flock performance for himself and his customers.
